Orangutans love the iPad, foreshadowing an actual “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”
For the last six months, orangutans at Milwaukee zoo have been playing games and watching videos on Apple’s iPad, but now their keepers and the charity Orangutan Outreach want to go one step further and enable ape-to-ape video chat via Skype or FaceTime.
Zoo keepers at the Milwaukee zoo have so far only let the orangutans use the iPad through the bars in their cage, not trusting them to hold the device for themselves.
But they have said that the next step will be to set up a Wi-Fi connection, so the orangutans can watch other apes around the country, or indeed the world.
Given the opportunity, I would most definitely FaceTime with an orangutan, marking only the fourth time I’ve used the feature. What about you? Let us know in the comments section below!
