Cipher Prime’s magical music puzzle game “Fractal” launches for Mac and Steam
Indie game developer Cipher Prime, makers of two of my favorite iPad apps, Pulse : Volume One and Fractal, has released Fractal as the company’s first game for the Mac App Store and Steam.
The Mac and Steam versions of Fractal ($6.99) allows players to push, combo, and chain their way through a fantastic musical puzzle maze, all at a splendid 130 BPM.
Three different gameplay modes in Fractal and an ever evolving soundtrack keep the experience fun and interesting:
- Campaign mode takes players through the world of discovery, with each level presenting new ways to play, while continually extending the challenges.
- Puzzle mode features over 50 intense scenarios that hone the players’ skills for Campaign mode.
- Arcade mode adds to the mix, with flat out fast-paced thrills.
In a blog post announcing the new version of Fractal, the Cipher Prime team outlines the incredible features of the Mac and Steam versions of the game:
“So much has changed since Fractal originally came out I don’t even know where to begin. We’ve rebalanced Campaign mode so that you can start from any level. We rebalanced Arcade mode so that it’s fun and challenging. We’ve updated our graphics and smoothed out the engine so the game runs, crisp, clean, and beautiful – even at full-screen, 1680×1050. New drum loops, crisper strings, cleaner sounds — this Fractal is the real deal.”
Customers who had purchased a previous version of Fractal for PC or Mac can get a free upgrade to the new version. Cipher Prime is sending notification emails to prior customers with more details.
Fractal for Mac is available on the Mac App Store today. The Steam release for PC and Mac is planned for the coming weeks.
If you’ve not tried Fractal or Pulse : Volume One, you’re doing yourself a great disservice by not playing both of these wonderful games. If you have tried one or both, share some of your favorite features with us in the comments below!
