Whether you use foursquare, Gowalla, or share your whereabouts by geo-tagging Tweets, photos with Instagram, or a variety of other apps, social media is fast becoming all about location.
Using a survey of 1,015 individuals Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, Visible Technologies crafted the graphic below concerning location-based social media:
“Through various social media platforms, we’re able to share all the necessary, and many unnecessary details of our daily existence, and now with the expansion of GPS tracking, social media allows us to share our location. Are we ready to literally disclose our every step?”
Do you use a location-based social media service to share where you are and what you are doing? If so, which one(s) do you use and why? Share your favorites in the comments below!
